New layout today. Added some links as well.

I haven't done anything productive though. I've got to work on my synthesis problem set at some point. I've got to do better on this one than I did on the last one (15/25, the average was 20).

And continuing on the unproductive theme...

I just saw a promo for Miami, and Stetler telling someone (looks like Ryan) that he's fired.

Ryan and Calleigh are the only two good things about this show.

Can anyone who's spoiled for this show tell me what's up?

(If you are spoiler free, don't click on the comments....)

Thanks in advance.

I feel: : anxious

I have an exam in 25 minutes. I'm so screwed, but at least I'll be done by 9:00, because that's when he's kicking us out. He says it shouldn't take long...

They should NOT be allowed to give exams on Friday nights.

I'll have my review up for NY in a couple of days. I've only seen it once. I'm just too tired when I get home to watch, especially when it's at 11 or midnight. (And wanted to watch a WAT ep on that night as well...)

So, I thought that since football was over WAT would atually start on time, but noooooo. Grrrr.

I'm apparently an angst writer.

I have a problem set due tomorrow that's not finished. The problem is that I can't figure out how to do the last two problems I haven't done. But one of them took me almost a half an hour to WRITE UP! I've spent 7 hours on it so far.

There's this one person that keeps complaining about the same thing over an over. All I really want to do is tell him to shut up.

My kids (students) are going to hate me when they get their lab reports back. Some of them didn't put things in the right order, or include references (for data), both of which I specifically mentioned that had to be done. So they're losing points.

Oh, but I have a super hard problem on a quiz- NONE of my students last semester figured it out, but this semester one of them did! And it's a hard one, involves thinking well beyond what we just did in class. A couple others got somewhat close.

I think I'm going to make some icons. I shouldn't. I've got other things I should do with my time.

This week is going to suck. Got to grade an exam tomorrow, proctor and grade some more on Tues, TA lab Tues. Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, and I'm cooking the dinner at the campus center. Group meeting that night too. Have to go to a banquet and poster session Thurs for a training program- the upside, I don't have to TA then. But Fri have to go to a poster session for recruiting weekend.

This is longer than I thought it would be. Oh well.

So, they say you learn something new every day. It's just that I never imagined today's lesson was going to be entitled, "How to clean up a mercury spill."

For the org lab that I TA the students still use mercury thermometers (don't ask me why). One of my students broke hers tonight (dropped on the floor) and there were several little beads. So I had to go get the assistant director.

First we tried to suck them up with pipettes, because he wasn't sure if the vacuum had attachments to get under the benches. We made a few drops that were too big, before finally getting some of it up. It took me forever to get the first one, you wouldn't believe how hard it is. Then we found out the vacuum could reach, so we got it, but for some reason, it didn't have enough suction to pull up the mercury! So we went back to the pipettes but couldn't get much more out, so we decided to just douse it with sulfur (the product of the reaction, while still toxic, is no longer volatile). Made a huge mess with the sulfur, because every two or three beads has to be covered with a capful of it to make sure it's covered. (Had to also play "Did we cover all the mercury beads" about a half hour later and found a couple more to cover). We left it for someone else to take care of tomorrow morning because we weren't sure how. The gloves we wore have to be disposed of as hazardous waste.

But even at that, today was much better than yesterday.

And who wants to join me on a petition that CBS affiliates that cut into CSI: NY and don't show the entire thing should be fined?

My Foundations course sucks. (part of why yesterday was so crappy)
